Managing Attorney & Co-Founder
Kimbro Stephens had big dreams as a teenager growing up in Conway, Arkansas. The son of a pioneer in the medical field and a well-known football coach, Kimbro knew he wanted, like his parents, to help others. He had no idea that a career in elder law would be the way. But since he graduated from Harvard University cum laude with a degree in economics and then a Juris Doctorate from the University of Arkansas School of Law, he found his way to health care then to elder law. Kimbro’s parents were the late Wanda Ward Stephens, M.D., an early pioneer female medical student who would become a leading psychiatrist in the state and the late Ken Stephens a career head football coach and two-time All American track athlete who is an Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame inductee. Both of his parents taught him the importance of investing in others with his mother’s advice, “It’s not what you say but how you say it.” Kimbro has never forgotten that principle.
After receiving his law degree in 1988 where he graduated with honors and was a member of the Arkansas Law Review and served as National Student Officer of the Delta Theta Phi Law fraternity, Kimbro assisted his mother in opening a first-of-its-kind Christian psychiatric hospital in Arkansas, Living Hope Institute. He worked for more than 20 years in hospital administration and executive healthcare management. During that time, he found a passion for helping people in crisis. As a healthcare executive, Kimbro established many programs for the delivery of medical services and served in many capacities including CEO and General Counsel. This is where he began using his gifted problem-solving skills for families to navigate the red tape of the insurance industry that is often at odds with patient needs and financial situations. We all know it is an intimidating and frightening experience to traverse the healthcare maze as the costs often exceed a family’s resources.
Then in a pain-to-purpose scenario, Kimbro had to walk that same path when dealing with the disabling and terminal health issues with his mother’s liver cancer diagnosis in 2009. The 19 months that followed had Kimbro learn to advocate for his helpless mother but also had him witness a chain of events that no family should experience. Kimbro opened his private law practice dedicated to helping seniors find workable solutions so they can get the quality care they need and want without going through financial devastation in the process.
Now he brings his wealth of experience to the Jurist Law Group as Co-Founder in 2015 and serves as Managing Attorney, where he devotedly guides families in the daunting maze of long-term care and helps them with asset protection and estate planning. Kimbro has learned that all families need this type of service; it is not for just the wealthy families but for all families trying to protect their family’s assets.
